Siena struggled to an 8-24 mark last year, after which coach Jimmy Patsos was let go and Jamion Christian was brought in. Christian coached for six years at Mt. St. Mary’s and compiled a winning record in the Northeast Conference in each season. He is basically starting over at Siena, but so far a blend of newcomers and holdovers are off to a promising start.

Siena Saints vs. Norfolk Spartans

The Saints opened the season with a competitive loss at Providence and then followed that up with a win at George Washington. They should open their home court with a win tonight over Norfolk State of the MEAC, which has lost both of its games against Division 1 teams.

Norfolk was 14-19 last year under Robert Jones, and has won just four games in three years against Division 1 teams outside of the MEAC. They return five starters from last year’s team, but that is not necessarily a good thing after finishing as the 312 ranked team in Ken Pom’s rankings. This is mostly a play against the MEAC with a team that has impressed thus far and appears to be much better than expected. Look for Siena to continue their strong start with a home court win.
