The Minutemen and Rams will take the court in the 8/9 game from the Barclays Center. SportsMemo handicapper Matt Josephs offers his thoughts on Thursday afternoon’s VCU vs. UMass clash from the A-10 Tournament in Brooklyn.

Event: (685) VA Commonwealth vs. (686) Massachusetts
Sport/League: Atlantic-10 Tournament
Date/Time: March 12, 2020 12PM EDT
Play: Massachusetts 7.5 (-110)

The Rams lost to the Minutemen 60-52 on the road just a few weeks ago. Tre Mitchell had 19 and 15 in that game as the Rams blew an eight point second half lead. VCU didn’t have Marcus Evans or Vince Williams for that one and it looks like Evans is going to play. Marcus Santos-Silva played 35 minutes and had 14 points and 11 rebounds. UMass doesn’t do a lot well, but they’ve won four of their last six and are coming off a tough one point home loss to Rhode Island. VCU wants to press you and turn you over. Problem is the offense has gone dry and there’s a ton of guys who are injured as Isaac Vann joined the list of walking wounded. The Rams lost seven of their last eight down the stretch with the win being by 24 at home over GW. There’s not a lot to like about them right now. The other caveat to consider is that with the A-10 taking the fans away, that’s an advantage they won’t have. Rams fans travel really well and would have made that place feel like home.
