NHL Wednesday Night Free Play: Colorado Avalanche at Pittsburgh Penguins

The Colorado Avalanche are absolutely rolling this season – they are off to a 5-0 start to the year and a lot of it is due to their high octane offense. They are currently holding the club’s second-longest winning streak since the club moved to the state and I think that winning streak continues here tonight when they take on the Penguins.

Event: (31) Colorado Avalanche at (32) Pittsburgh Penguins

The Colorado Avalanche landed two players in the off-season that have been perfectly slotted into their 2nd line and have made an immediate impact; those players are Nazem Kadri and Andre Burakovsky. Kadri has been an outstanding 2nd line center piece that seems to have found a great home in Colorado, Kadri knows how to play a strong game in front of the night, along the boards and also capitalize when he gets the puck in the slot. Burakovsky is a pure sniper and he has just simply added to the secondary scoring for the Colorado Avalanche who already have one of the best top lines in the NHL containing Captain Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. The Avalanche have averaged 4 goals a game on the season – have seen some great goaltending and defensive play from the defefencmen who also have show signs that they can jump into the rush as well and they have been playing a complete game. The Penguins defeated the Avs 6-3 in their last meeting in December of 2018 but things are a bit different for these teams right now it seems as if it is two teams heading in different directions, not to mention that the Penguins are VERY injured right now.

Don’t step in front of this Avalanche team right now – grab them on the ML to keep the streak alive. Take Colorado +105.
