MLS Week 2 Free Pick: Vancouver at Real Salt Lake

Salt Lake played to a 1-1 draw at Houston last weekend but played well and were unlucky to earn just a draw. They limited Houston to just one shot on goal which Houston scored, but played strong defense all around. They struggled defensively last year as they were constantly rotating players and unable to get a steady starting XI. So it’s very encouraging to see them play as well as they did defensively, especially on the road where they had just a 3-3-11 record.

Event: Vancouver at Real Salt Lake
Date/Time: March 9, 2019 6PM EST
Play: Real Salt Lake -0.75 (-107)

But here they return home where playing in altitude in Salt Lake is difficult for most opposing teams. They were tied for the best home record in the conference at 11-4-2.

Vancouver is in a rebuilding year, as they have 15 new players this season and building any chemistry will take some time. Vancouver lost at home 2-3 to Minnesota. Traveling to Salt Lake is going to be a tough task for a new team and I think this will be another lesson learned in this match. I’m predicting a long season for Vancouver this year.

TAKE REAL SALT LAKE -0.75
