Spain currently sits in 1st place in the group with 6 points, England has 4 pts and Croatia is last with just one point. However, Croatia has only played two matches so far in the UEFA Nations League and is set to play both England and Spain in this international break as the two remaining games in this group. A win by Spain will see them promoted to the playoffs next summer, where only the top 4 teams in each League A group will vie to be the champions of the first Nations League.

UEFA Nations League

Spain had a disappointing end to their World Cup this past summer, losing to Russia in the round of 16 on penalties. Croatia then beat Russia in the next round and went on to a Runner-up finish, losing to France in the Final. But they were lucky as they won one game in extra time and two games in penalties to get the Final. On top of that, Crotia has lost several key players from that World Cup team as three big names have all announced their retirement from the international squad. Mario Mandzukic is a huge loss, the star forward from Juventus, as well as goalkeeper Danijel Subasic, Monaco’s longtime keeper and vice-captain Vedran Corluka, captain and star defender on Lokomotiv Moscow. So far through the first two games of the Nations League, Croatia looks to be missing those players.

In their previous meeting, Spain won 6-0 at home, completely dominated possession 69{84ccd47921e566787b7405b472ea36582b7bea78c60faedb5d55493d43c879f0} to 31{84ccd47921e566787b7405b472ea36582b7bea78c60faedb5d55493d43c879f0}, and shots 15 (7 on goal) to 5 (1 on goal). The big 3 for Spain upfront all scored in that game, Isco, Rodrigo and Asensio, while Asensio assisted on three other goals. Against England, Croatia managed a 0-0 draw but England was the better team in that game and also had a Harry Kane goal ruled out for offside. I think they are clearly the worst team in this group and I think Spain has a rather easy time winning this game and earning their spot in the playoffs next summer.

TAKE SPAIN ML or -0.5 (whichever line is better)
